Zimbra Toaster email services for mac

Tuesday, March 27, 2007, 11:27

Zimbra, the enterprise, open-source-based Exchange competitor that runs e-mail services on top of Mac OS X and a variety of Linux flavors, already with over-the-air (OTA) sync to all popular PDAs, and quality desktop connectors to sync iCal, AddressBook, Entourage and Outlook, has now released the very early version of their own Desktop Client. This means, if you like the Zimbra web interface now you can have it even when you’re not online, living on your desktop, locally. My favorite feature so far is the Toaster, which pops-up on your desktop when you have mail, perfect for people like me who must know the instant a message arrives!
This is a beta and has not been tested by the Zimbra quality experts. We’ve added a ‘Toaster’ component to Bugzilla so you can report issues as you find them. The code will be available shortly in our SVN repository.

Requirements:
Windows, .Net 1.1 & a Zimbra account

Features:
* Notify when new messages are delivered to your server’s inbox folder
* Handle ‘mailto’ links
* Flag or move messages to trash
* On demand request for new messages
* Configurable polling interval
* Configurable ‘open item’ URL
* Configurable sound when messages arrive
* Configurable fade in/out of toaster window
* Remember toaster window location
* Tray icon tool tip shows number of new messages received
* Support for invalid SSL certificates
