A Windows 7 Overview!
Windows 7 Overview
I have used every Windows system sense Windows 3.1. It has been a wild and bumpy ride sence the beginning. Microsoft has had some bumps in the road a long the way and I am sure that they will have even more in the future. The newest Operating System from Microsoft (Windows 7) is by far the best Operating System that they have released. I have been using it sence they allowed you to be able to download it and try it for free for a year.
The install took about 20 minutes. Now, I have installed it on my P4 2.8 gighz PC. It has 1 gig of ram and a 40 gig hard drive. It runs really smooth, bells, whisteles, and all. I couldn ‘t believe how smooth it ran on a computer that I built well over five years ago. Startup is in less that twenty five seconds. That is fully loaded at the desktop with icons and everything on the screen. This is not the logon screen that you get. I am being serious when I say fully booted up.
I was really surprised that after I had installed Windows 7 that I did not have to install any drivers for any of my hardware. It recognized and had installed every bit of my hardware. With Vista I had to find the drivers for my wireless PCI card for internet access, and I had to find drivers for my video card. With Windows 7 I did not have to look for any of that. It was installed and ready to use literally within about 20 minutes or so. Give or take a couple of minutes. I was so impressed that I immediately started e-mailing and calling my friends telling them that they needed to get this new Operating System. One of my friends called me back saying that he was definately going to get it when it came out to buy.
A lot of people really give Microsoft a hard time about Windows and the rest of the products that they release. I am here to tell you that this Operating System is well put together and is really great right out of the box. It comes with DVD authoring software so that you can make your own home videos. It has built in burning software like previous versions of Windows has. It has really great Media Center capabilities that I have taken advantage of being that I can extend it to my XBOX 360. The Operating System also doesn’t leave a really huge footprint on the hard drive. When I installed Windows 7 it only took up about five or six gigs of hard drive space. Windows Vista took up more than double that and ran very slow on my desktop.
