Do You Know Enough About Machine Prototyping?

Rapid prototyping technology was given a number of alternative names; one of such names is layered production. What is implied under this name? The essence of the rapid prototyping production is building up of a real-size model of an object by growing thin layers of prototyping material. The whole process is fulfilled mechanically without human assistance. It hastens the process and gives better result. When a model comes of the machine it doesn’t require any additional tooling which also decreases costs of the production. The process is only controlled by a computer and machine, no outer interference. The process implemented by a prototyping machine is computer-assisted. It is called computer-aided design, or simply CAD, which is nothing but a complicated name of the computer program, controlling the prototyping process.
The process would surely be impossible without prototyping materials used for casting of a model. The materials used can vary from prototyping powder or liquid to prototyping wax and non-metal materials (metal materials can also be used). Models can also be casted of plastic. If a client needs a solid prototyping model aimed at aggressive testing, designers will chose an appropriate mix of materials.
All in all, rapid prototyping is meant for satisfying clients’ demands, so that both producer and customer get what they really need for relatively low price.
